Next weekend is Whale of a Sail at Carlyle, September 13-15.
“Whale” is one of the largest race weekends in the region. It is a annual, open, multi-design invitational held every September at the Carlyle Sailing Association on Carlyle Lake. The racing and camping weekend has been a season staple since the 1970s.

Friday: 6pm-9pm – Registration – Welcome Party
Friday, 13 September
- 6 – 9 PM registration, welcome party, CSA clubhouse
Saturday, 14 September
- 9 – 9:30 AM registration, CSA clubhouse
- 8 AM free breakfast, clubhouse
- 10:00 Competitor’s Meeting, pavilion
- 11:00 First Warning signal, first race (lunch break TBD, additional races to follow)
- 11:30 Long Distance start (lunch on water)
- 6:00 PM Buffet dinner, party and music
Sunday, 15 September
- 8 AM free breakfast, clubhouse
- 9:30 First Warning signal, Long Distance start
- 12:30 PM end racing and lunch
- 2:30 Awards Presentation
Fees and Registration
- Entry, $40 ($45 after 8 September) per boat plus $5.00 for each crew
- Entry, junior (not reached 19’th birthday), $10.00
- Saturday, Sunday bag lunch, $8.00 each (Choice of; Cold Cut Combo: Spicy Italian: Black Forest Ham or Veggie Sandwich)
- Saturday night buffet, $17.00 per person, separate reservation required
